Wake Up!

The Wake Up! program is funded by

Wake Up! is an alcohol and drug education program designed for young people aged 12-22. The program addresses behaviors and attitudes towards drugs and alcohol by exposing youth to real-life consequences of impaired decision making. Participants have the opportunity to reflect on their beliefs about alcohol and drug use,
and the effect it has on their lives, family, friends, and our community.

Program Length & What to Expect

Reading Aloud in Classroom

​Welcome Session – Orientation!
(First Saturday of the month 8:00am-2:00pm)

In this session, youth will learn how drugs, alcohol, and nicotine can affect their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Guest speakers will share their knowledge and personal experiences, providing valuable insight and encouraging meaningful conversations about the impact of substance use. Youth will also learn practical coping skills and healthy tools to help them manage challenges, make informed decisions, and support their overall well-being.

Parents and guardians are expected to stay for the first 20 minutes of Session One to complete required paperwork, review program expectations, and schedule the hospital tour. Please note that program fees are due by Session One.

College Student

Session Two – Hospital Visit
(Scheduled Thursday and Friday after session one)

Session Two offers a personalized walk-through with an AZYP staff through Banner's Emergency Department, Trauma Bay, and Intensive Care Unit. Participants may have the opportunity to talk with EMTs, nurses, and doctors about patients affected directly or indirectly by substance use.

  Program Fee: $60

Payments can be made online after you submit your registration, or you can bring cash

or a cashier's check/money order to the first session.

Please note: personal checks are not accepted.

Wake Up! is recommended for youth who have had

a first-time offense for substance misuse

  • 94% of previous participants have not been re-arrested for a similar offense since completing Wake Up!

  • 70% of the youth in Wake Up! reported they would say no if someone offered them Marijuana or Hashish

  • 81% of the youth in Wake Up! said they would say no if offered alcohol

  • 96% of the youth said they would recommend Wake Up! to their peers
